Just some of the highlights of holidays in Corfu are the beautiful surroundings and white sandy beaches, one travel commentator has claimed.

Writing for the Midhurst and Petworth Observer, Lauren Anderson described spending an enjoyable week soaking up the sun and traditional sights on the island.

The journalist explained how she has been to the island four times and recounted the hot temperatures and the stunning beaches as just some of the reasons why she continues to return.

"From seeing donkeys driven around on the back of a van ... the gorgeous pools and the white sands, Greece will always have a special place in my heart," Ms Anderson remarked.

She noted how the quaint surroundings had plenty to offer, including a vast selection of restaurants and very welcoming local residents.

In an article for the Canadian Press, Steve MacNull recently wrote of enjoying customary foods such as moussaka and baklava while in Greece and told of the Mythos beer and ouzo liquor for which the country is known.
