People on holiday in Lefkada (Lefkas) have been advised to visit Egremni beach to experience a beautiful part of the island without the crowds.
Writing for the Guardian, Nick Darby claims that what sets Egremni apart is the "sheer chalky cliffs" that back the beach, "giving it a concentration of bright white sand and piercing blue sea".
The beach is accessible via steps that descend along the cliffs, but were not too daunting said Mr Darby.
"The slight inaccessibility means it is never crowded and has a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere."
Egremni only boasts one simple refreshment stand for basic supplies so it may pay to pack a picnic.
Meanwhile, the more adventurous holiday makers may wish to try their hand at windsurfing in Vassiliki.
The Lefkada (Lefkas) town is regarded as the windsurfing capital of the world, with the Times recently rating the experience as its top 100 summer holiday activities for 2010.
