A holiday in Greece has ranked among the top choices for those planning a holiday in Europe (the European Union, EU) in 2010, it has been reported.
The latest EU Eurobarometer Poll states that 3.9 per cent of respondents are planning their main holiday in Greece, behind Spain, Italy, France and the United States.
It also reveals that 65 per cent of people in Greece are choosing to spend their holidays this year in their own country instead of going abroad.
The annual study, entitled Survey on the Attitudes of Europeans Towards Tourism, was conducted by the Gallup Organisation.
Meanwhile, a recent survey by Lloyds TSB found that 60 per cent of Britons plan to head overseas for their main holiday this year, with more than 60 per cent choosing to holiday in European destinations such as the Greek islands.
Some 45 per cent were planning a sun and beach holiday, and a third of the 2,000 respondents said their trip was already booked.
