The Greek islands boast "sparkling blue seas" and fresh foods that can be enjoyed in bustling harbours, one travel commentator has claimed.
Writing for Suite 101, Laura Peters described her experience while on holiday in Greece.
She recounted how olive groves line many mountainsides and goats can be seen frolicking in the fields, while in some of the harbours turtles swim just below the water's surface.
Telling of the oceans that surround the islands, she stated: "Blue seas take visitors breath away while the white sands gleam with cleanliness."
"With gently lapping seas, small, friendly tavernas and a calm that doesn't exist in the UK", the lure of the isles is clear, she added.
For a fun daytrip Ms Peters recommended hiring a boat and sailing round the shoreline to capture sights of the cliff tops from a different perspective.
People on holiday in Greece can now make cheaper calls from their mobile phone after the European Commission recently unveiled new regulations.
