People on holiday in Kefalonia have the chance to visit the charming coastal village of Fiskardo, which one traveller has described as "an absolute gem".
Writing for tripadvisor.com under the pseudonym badger20London, he states that Fiskardo was the best part of the trip to Kefalonia and "absolute heaven" for him and his wife.
"The feel of the place was just perfect … it was almost postcard pretty, if not better," he writes.
A day trip on a traditional Greek boat, guided by a British marine biologist who informed them of the local environment and wildlife, was a particular highlight of their stay.
Fiskardo, on the northern tip of Kefalonia, was left virtually unscathed during the great earthquake of 1953 that ruined most of the island's historic buildings and villages.
It was also the setting for the Nicolas Cage film Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
