British ambassador 'enjoys Greek island holidays'

The Greek islands are one of former British ambassador Sir Christopher Meyer's favoured holidays destinations, he has revealed.
Writing for the Times about his ideal locations for a sunny getaway, Sir Meyer mentioned enjoying the wines of Santorini and water sports off the coasts of the islands.
He also described Athens as being a place he adored. The vista from a rooftop terrace made a lasting impression on him.
"You could see all the way across Athens, over the Parthenon and on to the Acropolis ... it was quite simply the most spectacular and breathing view I've ever seen," he noted.
He went on to say the historical setting and impressive tableau was enhanced by the sunset, which spread colours across the city as the moon came up over the Parthenon.
Another celebrity to have recently revealed these locations as his favoured holiday destination is RTE Radio 1 presenter Cathal Murray.
When the Irish Herald asked the jockey what his best holiday ever was, he responded that it was when he went to the Greek islands alone.
