A Greek island holiday to Kea could provide holidaymakers with a memorable feeling, according to one travel writer.

According to Charles Mitsakos of the Nashua Telegraph, the destination dates back to 3,000 BC and was one of the places he discovered on a Greek island odyssey.

Although it was the last visit on the tour, he noted that it was one of the most unforgettable.

Mr Mitsakos commented on the sixth-century BC Lion of Kea, which is carved out of rock, stating it welcomed them to Ioulis, the island's capital.

"Its red, terracotta-tiled roofs gave the city and island a very different feel than the others we had visited," he noted.

Not only did Kea inspire the author, but he also pointed out a number of features that could form part of a Greek island holiday .

These included seeing the distinctive white houses with blue frames of Santorini, its ancient Minioan settlement of Akrotiri and the island's archaeological museum.

Kea is part of the Cylades group of Greek islands and is also known by the name of Tzia.
