Tourists looking for things to do in Kefalonia while on holiday might like to spend a day on one of its surrounding islands, Ithaca.
This is one of the seven isles of the Ionian Sea and can be found one mile off Kefalonia's shores, with legends calling it the home of Odysseus, the Hellenic News of America reports.
And travellers may find it quite peaceful and secluded as there are only 3,500 local residents on the rock, the majority of whom are fluent in both Greek and English.
"Simply [enjoy] the tranquillity of this island and [sunbathe] under the lustre of the rays of the Mediterranean sun," the publication recommended.
However, more active souls will find their tastes catered for as well, as there is an archaeological museum to explore and several villages that can be accessed by bicycle or bus.
Sampling some wine while away could also prove to be a pleasurable holiday pastime and the Montreal Gazette's Bill Zacharkiw recently suggested people try those found in the north-east, such as Katsaro, Gerovassiliou and Biblia Chora.
