New establishments liven up holidays in Athens

A host of new restaurants and bars are waiting to be discovered during holidays in Athens , it has been claimed.
The Star reports that the city's gasworks district has received a major makeover and is now home to a plethora of bars and restaurants.
Sipping an evening cocktail while listening to an outdoor concert provides a unique atmosphere in the heart of the ancient city, with the area regarded as "a cool place to eat, drink and be seen", according to the news provider.
"It's a sight worth experiencing at least once, says Francesco Orsenigo, an Italian physicist and amateur flamenco dancer who recently popped in out of curiosity. But don't go early," the Star states.
The area is also home to art exhibitions and buskers.
Meanwhile, more UK travellers appear to be considering a holiday in Athens this year, according to a new report from independent flight website Skyscanner.
In its latest top 50 searched-for destinations from the UK during February, Athens was among the few select places that saw an increase in popularity, rising by nine points.
