Paphos festival a hit attraction during holidays in Cyprus

Attending the annual Paphos Aphrodite Festival has been touted as one of the major things to do in Cyprus.
Now in its 12th year, the renowned event offers aspiring "music aficionados" a unique experience that leads them through the "magic paths of lyric drama", reports the Cyprus Tourism Board.
This year will see the production of the renowned Italian opera La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini, held from the 3rd to the 5th of September at the square in front of the medieval castle.
The event's official website states of the highly popular opera: "In the context of La Boheme the urban, emotional perception of the artists is portrayed through the description of places, slightly typified description of characters and impressive scenes while the lyric quality of the music valorises the opera of the time."
Savvas G. Vergas, chairman of the festival board, said since its establishment in 1998, the event has managed to establish itself as the "best ambassador of Cyprus' contemporary face of culture in the international sphere".
