Skiathos 'great for animal lovers'

For pet lovers, holidays in Skiathos can be about more than just sea and sand - volunteering at an animal shelter could be a good way to add some altruism to their sojourn.
Veterinarian Leigh-Anne Brown and her husband Gareth did just that when they went from Leeds to the island for a sun-filled getaway.
"It was beautiful and relaxing but we were missing our dogs back home," Ms Brown explained in an article in the Yorkshire Post.
She explained that this is how they ended up walking dogs at the Skiathos Dog Shelter.
The centre relies greatly on volunteers and contributions, which the vet said they put to very good use.
"I can't emphasis enough how impressed I was at how much they achieved with so little," the vet added.
Car hire may be necessary to do this - the centre is up a mountain road and hard to get to.
Skiathos has a lot more to attract holidaymakers.
Known for its lush scenery, it is also said to boast the best beaches of all of the Sporadic islands.
