People on holiday in Zante have been advised to take a drive around the island to discover the charming mountain villages and traditional delicacies.
According to Tripadvisor.com, the journey along the island can be achieved in one day or more depending on the number of stopovers.
Heading on the road south of Zante, stopping at the village of Keri allows people to meet the villagers, experience their traditional way of life and taste the local cuisine.
"Food is superb, try the cheese and cold meats. The mastelado, a dry wine of the region is something you want to taste, no matter if it is early in the day," states the website.
One of the island's best kept secrets, Volimes, is found near Shipwreck Cove, and consists of a mountain village with narrow streets going up and down the sloping terrain.
"There, you have a real taste of old times. Try the cheese and the honey at one of the small stores in the east side. Or sit at one of the traditional cafes," reports Tripadvisor.com.
People on holiday in Zante also have the chance to appreciate the island's collection of hand-made pottery, and can even watch it being made.
The Sigouros Pottery Shop in Zante Town boasts an array of beautiful ceramics, while the workshop in Machairado is only a 15 minute drive away.
