Holidays in Greece could be the ideal destination for over-50s looking for a peaceful break.
Paul Green, head of communications for the Saga Group, explained that many grandparents enjoy visiting places where they can explore the culture without children running around.
He said: "Clearly, some will want to spend time on the beach but a lot of people who are older want to go and do things and see things."
A Greek island holiday could be the perfect option for those who wish to learn more about the ancient history of the country as there is a wealth of museums and sites to visit.
However, it seems not all older travellers wish to get away from youngsters and be adventurous while abroad.
According to recent research by Rias, 30 per cent of grandparents vacation with their children in order to provide childcare and spend more time with their family.
