Villa Hibiscus sits above the beautiful cove of Agios Petros with its lovely clear waters and peaceful setting. The beach is just a few minutes walk via a track leading from the bottom of the property.
The entrance to Villa Hibiscus brings you directly upon a beautiful patio and barbecue area accented by an ancient olive tree providing shade to a stone-built dining table.
The barbecue is made in the traditional island style and has an accompanying sink, while the views to the sea and distant islands make a perfect backdrop for outdoor dining. The partial stone facade of the house ensures the villa blends superbly with the nature around, while the terraces and fresh water pool (approx. 3m x 7m) are situated to take full advantage of the wonderful views.
Villa Hibiscus is a lovely spacious property. The large open plan living room/kitchen creates a warm, homely atmosphere and the high quality woodwork, slate stone floors and corner fireplace give it a traditional country style. The kitchen is well-equipped and modern and has a large wooden dining table. Accessed from the living room, opposite the fireplace is an alcove with a built-in single bed. A decorative, painted wood screen nearby can be used to provide some privacy and there is a very small w.c. with wash basin next to the alcove. Double French doors lead to a spacious sea-facing terrace.
A stone stairway leads to the second level with two air-conditioned bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, en-suite w.c. with a bathtub and two French doors leading to balconies. One balcony is sea-facing and the other is a private balcony with views over the hills. The ceilings are all open wood-beamed and the pretty coloured bed covers make it homely and attractive. The second bedroom has two single beds, the same attractive decor and wood-beamed ceilings, with double French doors leading to the shared balcony. There are stunning views to the sea and the neighbouring island of Peristera.
On the landing at the top of the stairs is a shower room with w.c. fitted with a washing machine.
The studio apartment is reached by an outdoor stairway to the side of the house and has its own terrace with partial sea views through the olive trees. The studio is open plan with a kitchenette, dining and living area and a low stone wall dividing the sleeping area which has a double bed. From the bedroom area is a shower room with w.c. The apartment is decorated in the same attractive style as the main house and is a great space for either a couple, a teenage child wanting a little privacy and independence, or the perfect place for nanny to watch the kids.
When booking Villa Hibiscus you will be given the option to book arrival island transfers between Alonissos and Skiathos Airport. All arrivals after 19:00 a mandatory escorted transfer applies. This can be paid locally.
Villa Hibiscus is ideal for those people who want quality accommodation in a traditional villa. As it is so spacious it is perfect for several couples holidaying together as well as for families with the studio for the grandparents or even the nanny. Due to the many levels, it may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties.
The villa is situated above the shingle beach of Agios Petros, with a foot path leading from the bottom of the property straight to the beach and, from here, it is a further 15 minute walk over the hillside to the little fishing village of Steni Vala, approximately 1.5 km away. Here you can find tavernas serving local seafood, as well as a small supermarket. There is also a water taxi from Steni Vala to the lovely beach of Agios Dimitrio
Agios Petros is a small secluded valley with a foot path down to a small sand and shingle beach which is completely natural with no sunbeds or beach bars, in fact you will be lucky if you see another person there. But don't think that secluded means isolated, a path from the beach leads you to the lovely little fishing hamlet of Steni Vala which is only 15 minutes away. Steni Vala has a quaint waterfront lined with caiques and a couple of tavernas specialising in fresh local seafood. There is also a small supermarket and Steni Vala is conveniently serviced by the local bus route and taxis. From here you can also catch a water taxi to the spectacular beach of Agios Dimitrios.
There is also a Monk Seal sanctuary located here to help care for seals that have been found injured by local fishermen.
