Villa Poseidon is set at the far end of Babakies Beach and is reached from the coastal road by foot on a narrow path through an olive grove (approx 100m). The villa is very private and stands just above the beach with no immediate neighbours.
Entering into the large open-plan living room which is simply, but comfortably furnished, the house has a country atmosphere. There is a corner fireplace, satellite TV and lots of windows facing the wonderful views to the beach and sea beyond. There is an expansive, covered veranda only a few steps from the sea. A well-equipped, open plan kitchen with dining area adjoins the main living area. The ground level includes a w/c shower room and a double bedroom with sea facing windows.
A steep wooden staircase leads to the second level bedroom which is furnished with double bed, en-suite toilet with wash basin and French doors leading to a fantastic balcony overlooking the sea.
This rare and beautiful setting above the sea is the perfect spot for relaxing with a good book or unwinding with a glass of wine whilst the summer sun slowly slips away. There is not much need to venture far from this comfortable villa next to the sea.
The best features of Villa Poseidon are the outdoor spaces and the great verandas with the beach so close at hand. The views along the coastline, to the village of Kalamakia and across the sea to the island of Peristera are stunning.
Villa Poseidon is perfect for families with children who want the convenience of a beach just a few steps from the villa. It is also ideal for couples wanting to get away from life's every day stresses and unwind by the sea. Villa Poseidon is located close to Fisherman's Cottage and large groups can book both together.
The drive to Kalamakia is only a few minutes from the villa, and the Village of Steni Vala about 10 minutes drive. Steni Vala is the most picturesque fishing village on the island and a must-see for most visitors to Alonissos.
The tavernas specialise in local seafood dishes and hang on the edge of the turquoise blue water. Water taxis run regularly from this small port to many nearby beaches including one of the islands' best, Agios Dimitrios. There is also a small beach at Steni Vala and a mini-market for most essentials. The drive to the main port town of Patitiri is about 30 minutes from the villa.
The fact that there is no airport on Alonissos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Alonissos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes 75 minutes to reach Alonissos.
You will be met at Skiathos Airport where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil or ferry. Another representative awaits your arrival on Alonissos.
Alonissos can also be reached by ferry from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland.
