Arriving through a gated entrance, the front door leads straight into a most elegant, comfortably furnished split level living area, complete with high beamed ceilings, open stone fireplace, satellite TV and DVD. The entire villa has been decorated and furnished in Cretan style which is elegant and understated, but very functional for your holiday comfort.
Steps from the living area then lead up through a natural archway to the fully equipped kitchen/dining area, which, in addition to the standard holiday villa kitchen includes a dishwasher and microwave. In the adjacent utility room there is a washing machine. Patio doors lead from the lounge to the front covered terrace, gardens and pool.
An inner hall then leads to two of the four bedrooms. There is a pretty double with full bathroom en-suite and a twin bedroom, with a shower room adjacent.
A marble staircase then leads to the first floor and a small second lounge area with TV. From here there is a twin bedroom with patio doors onto a small balcony with wonderful views of the mountain range behind. This has a shower room with WC adjacent. You will also discover the master double bedroom, which has a four poster bed, an attractive bathroom en-suite and patio doors leading onto a large terrace with views over the pool and gardens. All bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Outside the large private pool takes pride of place to the front of the villa and there is a separate children's pool adjoining where the depth is a constant 60cm. Surrounding both pools are spacious sun terraces, which are well furnished and there is a large built in barbeque with stone table and seating for 8 to the side of the villa for those Cretan specialities to be enjoyed al-fresco.
Villa Iris is situated at the entrance to the quaint, unspoilt village of Melidoni. The heart of the village with its pretty taverna, bar and mini market is a short walk away, whilst more varied shops can be found in nearby Perama just 3 miles away.
The nearest beach is in the resort of Bali, which also boasts numerous taverna's, kafenions, supermarkets and restaurants. Rethymnon is approximately 15 miles west of Melidoni.

Direct flights are also available to Crete from Dublin.
Chania Airport (Crete) - there are flights departing from Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle on Tuesdays.
Daily flights to Crete are available from Athens Airport.

The palace of Knossos is a must see attraction of Crete, unfortunately in high season it can also be hot and crowded. So be sure to take a bottle of water in with you. The informative signs are good, however an informative guide really can make the resort come alive.
