Villa Phoebe can be found on the edge of a rocky hillside amongst the olive trees close to the fishing village of Elounda. Its position high up above the Bay of Mirabello is nothing short of dramatic and the views are breathtaking down to Elounda and across to the island of Spinalonga in the distance. Sit and watch the boats as they make their way around the island or just soak up the Cretan sunshine from this magical spot.
The villa is reached up a short drive to a parking area and then by private elevator to the pool area or by a flight of steps to the same level.
The lower floor comprises of an air-conditioned open plan living area with a modern well fitted kitchen, which has dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. This leads into the comfortably furnished lounge/dining room which has decorative fireplace in the corner, satellite TV (limited English channels), DVD and CD player. Floor to ceiling patio doors stretch almost the width of the room leading out to a spacious balcony that overlooks the sea and the islands beyond. An air-conditioned double bedroom with stonewall feature leads off from the living area, this once again has the same views as the lounge and adjacent to this is a full family bathroom.
Stairs lead up to the first floor and to an air-conditioned double and twin bedroom, both with balconies and those wonderful views. Each of these bedrooms shares a stunning bathroom with double vanity unit, separate shower cubicle and large hydro massage bath.
Outside there is a shaded area with table and chairs for al-fresco dining and then steps lead down to the pool area and small garden, which has sun loungers, umbrellas and a hammock. The 9 metre free form pool, which has a depth of 1.6 metres, takes pride of place to the front of the property. This has a Jacuzzi feature and is just a perfect place to sip a cool drink and watch the magnificent sunsets over the Bay of Mirabello.
Due to the villas elevated position number of steps and different levels, we do not feel that this villa is suitable for young children, the elderly or the infirm.
Villa Phoebe is located just one mile from the traditional Greek fishing village of Elounda.
Elounda is a resort on the east coast of Crete island, 10km north of Agios Nikolaos. It is set on a bay facing the Sinalonga Peninsula, which is connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway. Elounda beach is a good stretch of grey sand and shingle with plenty of water sport facilities and waterside tavernas.
It is popular for swimming and especially snorkelling, with clear water, hidden coves and the attraction of Olous, an underwater ancient city.

Chania Airport (Crete) - there are flights departing from Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle on Tuesdays.
Daily flights to Crete are available from Athens Airport.

The palace of Knossos is a must see attraction of Crete, unfortunately in high season it can also be hot and crowded. So be sure to take a bottle of water in with you. The informative signs are good, however an informative guide really can make the resort come alive.
