Villa Rhea is located at the very of heart of the unspoilt village of Melidoni. Within the charming village is a useful mini market and a couple of authentic Greek taveernas.
On arrival at Villa Rhea you have a choice of two entrances, it is recommended that you enter from the front door through the attractive stone arched courtyard to leave your luggage and then drive to the rear entrance to park within the beautiful walled gardens with access to the rear. It is here that you will find the stunning pool area with separate Jacuzzi all set in gardens of lawns, trees, flowers and even having its own vegetable patch. The large 10 metre pool has a shallow end for children and is surrounded by spacious sun terraces beautifully furnished with wooden sunbeds and parasols. Located in this area is a delightful addition to the villa, a separate pool annexe with air-conditioning, which houses a twin bedroom with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities and en-suite shower room. WI-Fi is available within the main villa.
As you take the tiled pathway towards the house you will pass the outside eating area with its marble table situated beneath a flower covered pergola, barbeque kitchen and traditional wood burning oven. The back door will lead you straight into the Italian fitted kitchen and dining room with all the facilities you would expect to find in a modern kitchen including dishwasher, microwave and large fridge/freezer. There is a washing machine for your added convenience.
Off from this ground floor level a door leads to the most attractive air-conditioned twin bedroom with beautifully tiled en-suite shower room and ahead you step through into the most comfortably furnished lounge housing the original fireplace with stone arched features, which has now been turned into a snug. No expense has been spared by the owners when purchasing fixtures, fittings, tiles and furniture and an air of sheer elegance prevails throughout the house. The main entrance, which leads to the flower filled front courtyard is accessible from the lounge area, which has TV, DVD and CD player for your added enjoyment. There is a cloakroom with WC also located here.
A most attractive wooden staircase leads up from the kitchen/dining room to the first floor. Here you will find three of the most romantic and beautifully furnished air-conditioned bedrooms, each having polished wooden floors. The first being a double with marble inset wrought iron headboard, which is draped with lovely local fabrics. There are ample delightful antique style furnishings and this room has shower and WC en-suite. Next to this is a superbly fitted twin bedded room, again fine fabrics have been used in the decoration and this room also has a shower with WC en-suite. Finally two steps lead up to the master double bedroom suite, which once again is beautifully furnished with wrought iron bed draped in fabrics and has patio door onto a small private terrace overlooking the front courtyard. The en-suite bathroom boasts a Jacuzzi bath and elegant tiling throughout.
Villa Rhea is located in the centre of the unspoilt village of Melidoni in the picturesque Rethymnon area. There are a number of historical sites within easy driving distance and the resort of Bali is just 10 minutes away by car and here you can find a choice of tavernas, shops and a sandy beach. The village of Melidoni itself offers a mini market, plus a couple of local authentic Greek tavernas, which are situated around a traditional village square.

The palace of Knossos is a must see attraction of Crete, unfortunately in high season it can also be hot and crowded. So be sure to take a bottle of water in with you. The informative signs are good, however an informative guide really can make the resort come alive.
