For those wanting a perfect beach holiday, you'll be hard pressed to find anywhere better to stay than Keos Hotel. With the beach at Korissia two minutes away, and Gialiskari beach ten minutes away, you'll have plenty of time for basking in the sunshine or walking along the sand.
The Keos Hotel has 16 rooms and is located on the headland above the beautiful Korissia bay with panoramic sea views. It is finished to extremely high standards and the air-conditioned rooms all have tiled floors and timbered ceilings.
Each room selected by Perfect Blue has private terraces with magnificent views across the bay, and either a comfortable double bed or two single beds. They are furnished with fitted wardrobes, dressing table and small areas for drinks (with a fridge).
French doors in the rooms open onto a shaded terrace furnished with a table and chairs, and the immaculate bathrooms have a shower stall, hand basin and WC as well as a selection of complimentary toiletries.
For added value, a traditional buffet breakfast is included in the price. This may be enjoyed either on the lovely terraces overlooking the bay or in the privacy of your room. The terrace bar is also open in the evening.
On the western side of the island is Agios Nikolas Bay, and deep within it lies the port of Korissia or 'Livadi' - considered to be one of the safest natural harbours in the Mediterranean.
Korissia is the port of Kea, where mainland ferries arrive and depart. Even if you're not staying here, it's the first place you'll encounter when you reach the island and is well worth a stop off. With its blue domed church sitting opposite its old lighthouse, this is a delightful little harbour where a jumble of traditional houses tumble down from the surrounding hillsides to a waterfront lined with cafes, tavernas and shops.
Korrisia makes a great base from which to explore the island as it is within easy reach of the capital town of Ioullis and the rest of Kea. However, if you are not inclined to stray too far, this lovely port also has a long, sandy and uncrowded beach that stretches as far as the headland and the charming chapel of Agios Georgos - the perfect spot to while away your days before meandering back to spend a pleasurable evening at the waterfront.
There is something reallly special about arriving on a Greek island by boat and this particularly applies to the island of Kea. The ferry only takes an hour and departs from the port of Lavrio on the mainland, which is an easy forty minute drive down the main highway from Athens airport.
There are plenty of direct flights to Athens from the UK and it is approximately a 3 hour journey. You can fly direct from Gatwick, Glasgow, Heathrow, Luton and Manchester. Carriers include:

Kea's most popular sight is probably the Lion of kea, also called Lionidas. This is an imposing archaic sculpture of the lion that according to mythology chaesed away the nymphs of the island, causing many ravages. The story tells this lion was sent by the gods, because they were jealous of Kea's beauty.
