Location

Svoronata, Kefalonia

Svoronata is a pretty village in the Livathos region of Kefalonia - an area of fertile valleys, rolling hills and prosperous rural hamlets spread out amongst the olive groves and fruit orchards. This sleepy village with its tiny, winding streets lined with brightly coloured gardens still retains much of its traditional Greek charm and, despite being only a short drive from the airport, the area is both peaceful and scenically beautiful.

Ideal for couples and families seeking a quiet, relaxing break or as a base for exploring the rest of the island, Svoronata has three excellent beaches all of which offer child-friendly shallow waters and uncrowded sandy shores - even in the height of the season. And, when you've finished soaking up the sun for the day, why not cool down in one of the handful of excellent tavernas or bars in the village? The evening entertainment in Svoronata is relatively low key and based around eating out. More lively distractions however can be found nearby in the busier capital of Argostoli and the resort of Lassi - both just a few miles from Svoronata.

Why Holiday in Kefalonia?

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, but among the least commercialised. The coastline offers mile after mile of sandy beaches and unspoilt rural areas that are waiting to be explored.

The weather on the island of Kefalonia consists of rainy winters and dry, hot summers. With higher winter rainfall, Kefalonia boasts verdant plains, forests and hillsides dotted with grazing mountain goats.

Great food is certainly a feature of Kefalonia. Feta cheeses from goats and ewes milk, olives and fresh fish from the ports at Sami, Poros, Argostoli and Fiskardo are among the islands' specialities served at excellent tavernas across Kefalonia. Customer Reviews

Astra Village was an excellent property. (May 2010)

Excellent. Very clean and very friendly staff. (September 2007)
The property was excellent. It was well maintained and regularly cleaned. The staff were friendly. (September 2007)
Lovely. (September 2007)
Excellent - The apartment was simple but elegant and with a lovely balcony, fridge and cooker. (August 2007)
Excellent location. Very friendly, clean and modern. Great facilities and service (August 2007)
The property was fantastic - I would recommend to anyone. Very pleasant and clean. Quite a modern property. Staff were very nice and friendly. Overall, I would return there without hesitation. (May 2007)

Svoronata, Kefalonia ...

The location was relatively remote and pleasantly quiet. (May 2010)
Realtively remote, pleasantly quiet but a car required (May 2010)
The location was beautiful. Everything you need is on the doorstep: the beach was 5 mins away and there were two shops, a pool, bar & restaurant all on site. (June 2008)
The location was wonderful. It was quiet and pretty, certainly the place to come for a "get away from it all". This was a great place from which to explore the rest of the island with a car, but then come back to the peace and quiet of the resort. (May 2008)
Nice and quiet, but with three good beaches nearby, some nice tavernas and just a short transfer from the airport. (September 2007)
It was a nice area to have a holiday. (September 2007)
Wonderful. (September 2007)
Very peaceful, the beach was beautiful and the taverna's were great. I loved the fact it was not near to any other buildings or hotels etc. (August 2007)
Clean, safe and plenty to do for a couple of days (if you feel like being lazy). (August 2007)
Location was good in that we were close to the capital of Argostoli and the main roads to other locations - I would say that car hire was essential though. The property is close to the airport but this did not cause any discomfort at all as there were very few planes flying in and out and certainly none at night that I was aware of. The island itself is beautiful with a lot of culture - and not too busy with tourism which to me is a plus. (May 2007)

Hints, Tips and Local Information

I would definitely say a car is required. (May 2010)
Avisthos is definitly the nicest beach in the area. Definitely hire a car for a few days, as the island is gorgeous and well worth exploring. (May 2008)
I would highlight the quality of the great beaches and the fact that it is very easy to reach other parts of the island. (September 2007)
There is a choice of restaurants/tavernas in the immediate vicinity (the on site restaurant and two tavernas are within 10 minutes walk) However a wider choice of eating places can be found approximately 25 minutes walk away. (September 2007)
The beds were a bit hard but that is Greece for you! (September 2007)
The island really should be explored, and coming back to such a lovely environment was great - the pool and sunset drinks by the bar, perfect! (August 2007)
If you don't feel like going far for a meal, the hotel restaurant is good as is Ammes Restaurant (5 minute walk). Abybos Restaurant (Avithos Beach) in our opinion is the best on the island). Avithos is the best beach in area. (August 2007)
I would recommend hiring a car to explore the island. (May 2007)
