Location

Spartia, Kefalonia

The sunny bay of Spartia is situated at the bottom of a flowery hillside and protected by outcrops of rock. There is a pretty little beach with clear aquamarine water and soft white sand and a small jetty and harbour. The bay has impressive white limestone cliffs towering above the sea below and there are often yachts just off the coast.

Approximately 2 kilometres up the winding hill is the traditional Kefalonian village of Spartia, in the centre of the village is a small square with a few tavernas and a grocers shop The landscape around Spartia is fertile with an abundance of grapevines, fruit trees and olive groves.

Why Holiday in Kefalonia?

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, but among the least commercialised. The coastline offers mile after mile of sandy beaches and unspoilt rural areas that are waiting to be explored.

The weather on the island of Kefalonia consists of rainy winters and dry, hot summers. With higher winter rainfall, Kefalonia boasts verdant plains, forests and hillsides dotted with grazing mountain goats.

Great food is certainly a feature of Kefalonia. Feta cheeses from goats and ewes milk, olives and fresh fish from the ports at Sami, Poros, Argostoli and Fiskardo are among the islands' specialities served at excellent tavernas across Kefalonia.
