Location

Zola, Kefalonia

If you are looking for a holiday where you can relax and unwind away from it all, then Zola is the perfect place for you. Zola is set in a beautiful valley running dramatically down to the spectacular bay, and is almost a secret known only to the Islanders with its choice of deserted beaches lapped by azure waters.

Even though it is a secluded spot there is a picturesque little fishing harbour with a taverna serving fresh fish from the boats. If you are feeling a bit adventurous you can hire a boat for the day or just to taxi you round to Fteri beach which has been voted one of the best beaches in the world!

Within a short drive is a selection of beaches and the traditional village of Zola. The sophisticated island capital of Argostoli is within a 30 minute drive along costal roads.

Please note that we feel that a hire car is essential to make the most of your holiday on Kefalonia staying at Villa Hestia. The beach is a short drive away, and the nearest shop is a 5 minute drive.

Why Holiday in Kefalonia?

Kefalonia is the largest of the Ionian Islands, but among the least commercialised. The coastline offers mile after mile of sandy beaches and unspoilt rural areas that are waiting to be explored.

The weather on the island of Kefalonia consists of rainy winters and dry, hot summers. With higher winter rainfall, Kefalonia boasts verdant plains, forests and hillsides dotted with grazing mountain goats.

Great food is certainly a feature of Kefalonia. Feta cheeses from goats and ewes milk, olives and fresh fish from the ports at Sami, Poros, Argostoli and Fiskardo are among the islands' specialities served at excellent tavernas across Kefalonia. Hints, Tips and Local Information

The owners have clearly paid a lot of attention into what makes a perfect idyll for their guests – and it shows (June 2011)
We should have booked our extra legroom (flight) when booking the holiday - it proved too expensive to add later on, but we regretted this. Shop on the way from the airport as it is a long drive to the nearest supermarket. (August 2010)
Go to the Taverna on other side of valley for Sunday night roast pork and live music. The local rep when giving information about beaches failed to mention the one at Zola itself was less crowded than many he did recommend [thank you for the tip] (August 2010)
The pool man knows the best beaches to visit! (July 2009)
Definitely go down the road to Odyssey Villas for dinner. Eleni was lovely and the food was great too. (August 2008)
Zola is very quiet - make use of shopping in Argostoli on the way to the villa. Again, I must add that the staff in Greece were brilliant. Well done!! (August 2007)
Villa Hestia and Zola are well recommended for those looking for a peacful holiday in a delightful setting. (July 2007)
