Located just a few steps from the Blue Flag sandy beach of Saint George, The Galaxy enjoys a prevelidged spot. The hotel was totally renovated in 2009 and the rooms and hotel areas have been beautifully finished according to the traditional Cycladic styles.
The en-suite rooms have been decorated to be calm and tranquil, and feel spacious on entry. Rooms have air-conditioning, satellite TV, a telephone, a fridge, Cd player and hair dryer. They have either a terrace or balcony, allowing you to enjoy the famous Naxos evenings.
Within the hotel, there is a breakfast room, a snack bar and pool bar, all serving refreshments throughout the day. For the evening, you can dine at the good quality restaurant on site, or stroll into Naxos Town where there are a number of options. During the renovations, wi-fi was added as a service, which means that you can keep in touch while you are away (if you want to!).
For those not inclined to spend their whole time at the beach, the hotel has a large pool and plenty of loungers and umbrellas arranged arround to help you relax with a book, a drink or just close your eyes ...
Children are well provided for with their own playground and the hotel owners are very happy to help provide cots, high chairs and anything else that younger children require.
The hotel has beautiful, well maintained gardens and for those hiring a car, which is not a necessity, there is ample parking.
The Galaxy Hotel is located on the beach-front at St George's Beach and just 600m from Naxos Town.
Naxos is considered one of the most beautiful and unspoilt islands in the Cyclades. It is relatively easy to reach, with ferries from either Athens or Santorini, or via connecting flight from Athens. The main draw is the long, sandy beaches for which the island is famous and the crystal clear waters that are ideal for swimming. However, beyond the well-known lie impressive mountainous landscapes, a beautiful Venetian capital, villages crammed with traditional white painted houses and pretty fishing harbours.
There are regular ferry services that depart from Santorini (Thira), Athens (Piraeus or Rafina) and Mykonos.
There are 4-5 ferries per day to Naxos, with the last ferry from Santorini sails at 16.00 (daily, except on a thursday when there is a 17.25 crossing). The crossing takes just under 2 hours. Getting from Santorini Airport to the port will take approximately 30 minutes and be less than 20 Euros in a taxi. For this reason, flights into Santorini should arrive by 14.00 unless you want to spend a night on the island and catch a ferry the next morning.
Flights into Athens provide the choice to sail from Piraeus or Rafine (which is closer to the new airport). Crossing times by ferry are between 6 and 8 hours, but the Flying Cat from Rafina cuts this time to just under 4 hours (although the daily service departs at 7.30, so most likely requiring an overnight stay in Athens).
Alternatively, there are flights via Athens to Naxos, connecting with Olympic.
