Property details

Just a short stroll from the local taverna, Villa Maritsa provides beautiful views from its large terraces, good privacy and a large private pool.

Villa Maritsa is the perfect option for a family holiday on Paxos, offering privacy, extensive terraces, a large pool with sea views and comfortable accommodation for up to six guests. The owner, Maritsa, is very proud of her villa and ensures that this property is well cared for.

Ideally situated in the centre of the island, the villa sits between the villages of Fontana and Magazia, both of which are within walking distance and have a choice of several excellent tavernas, traditional Kafenia, a bakery and a mini-market.

Villa Maritsa has a bright, open-plan living area with a separate dining area that is suitable for six, there is a fully-equipped kitchen where you can create anything from a simple Greek salad to a full meal for all the family. The focus of the room is a lovely traditional stone fireplace with comfortable sofas for you to relax in.

Upstairs you'll find three air-conditioned bedrooms. Both twin bedrooms have French windows that open out onto a large roof terrace with great views across the olive groves to the sea. There is a bathroom with shower on the ground floor and another large bathroom with shower on the first floor.

You'll fall in love with this charming villa as you spend lazy afternoons sunning yourself on the private terraces among roses and flowering shrubs. During the heat of the day mature trees offer shady spots, or cool off by taking a dip in the large 10m x 5m swimming pool. Come the evening there is a stone-built barbecue and a hardwood table and six chairs for al fresco dining.

Location

Magazia, Paxos

Located in the centre of the island, Magazia is a small hamlet which offers a mini-market, a bakery, a cafenio and a taverna.

Magazia is a good location to explore the island including the beaches on the east coast and the wild scenery of the west coast.

A second mini-market and another taverna is available in the tiny hamlet of Fontana which is approximately 900m from Magazia. The pretty hamlet of Fontana has a lovely old church and offers several walking routes to explore.

Why Holiday in Paxos?

Paxos is a tiny gem that lies in the Ionian Sea just an hour's hydrofoil trip from its larger neighbour Corfu. With no direct flights, this island of pretty harbours and undiscovered coves is delightfully laid-back and off-the-beaten-track.

Gaios is the island town, main harbour and centre of island life. Harbour-side tavernas greet arriving visitors but are well worth a return visit during your stay. Loggos is a pretty village harbour just a 10 minute taxi ride from Gaios and home to several of our Paxos villas and apartments. Perhaps the best way to explore this island is by small boat - simply potter along the shoreline to find your own idyllic cove.

For more information on Paxos, its harbours and villages click the tabs above. Our 'Getting there' section includes flight routes to neighbouring Corfu and ferry options.

How To Get There

Transfers to Paxos are usually by hydrofoil from the port in Corfu Town with the crossing taking approximately 1 hour. If you book inter-island transfers with us, you will be met at Corfu Airport by our Perfect Blue Representative who will escort you to a taxi to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil. You will also have the option to book car hire or property transfers for once you arrive on Paxos.

Please note that the best arrival days for connecting to Paxos are on Mondays, when there are more boats and hydrofoils in operation. We recommend selecting flights that arrive on Corfu no later than 13:00 to leave time for your onward transfer to Paxos.

On Mondays, flights to Corfu leave from the following UK airports: Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Exeter, Gatwick, Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle, Stansted. Direct flights are also available from Dublin and there are daily flights from Athens Airport.

Perfect Blue Holidays offer a full travel service including flights, car hire and taxi transfers as well as apartments, hotels and villas on an accommodation-only basis.

Feedback on Villa Maritsa ...

Awesome views, very quiet, very central (September 2010)
It was peaceful, unspoilt, beautiful view and in easy reach of tavernas and shops (June 2010)
It is perfectly situated with a lovely house/garden/pool. (May 2010)
A lovely clean property in a peaceful location with a great pool. (June 2009)
Villa Maritsa, with its pool and gardens, were wonderful. A superb property in an excellent location. (May 2009)
Villa Maritsa was even better than described on the website. Isolated, surrounded by aged olive groves, and with a beautiful view to the sea and beyond to the Greek mainland. It felt very upmarket and had a great pool and a marvellous garden. More like a home than a holiday let. (May 2009)
The villa was clean, tidy and well looked after with a nice pool. Very spacious and comfortable. It's a lovely property with a lovely owner who takes good care of it and is friendly and welcoming - she has gone out of her way to make it a special place to take a holiday. (September 2008)
We were particularly struck by the spaciousness and comfort of the villa, the size of its pool and its setting. (August 2008)
A very comfortable villa with a great pool. We were impressed by the general aspect of the place - surrounded by olive trees and in an elevated position providing fantastic views of the mainland and the sea. (July 2008)
This is our second year running here. Great pool. Great location. We loved the space. (June 2008)
Excellent. For the sort of holiday we required it fitted all our requirements beautifully (May 2007)

Magazia, Paxos ...

We feel that it is necessary to have a car (June 2010)
The location was quiet and peaceful, yet within a few minutes of many beaches. (July 2009)
The villa's location in Magazia meant we were central for everything. (July 2009)
Paxos was totally unspoilt - one of the most relaxing holidays we have had. (June 2009)
Magazia was ideally situated to easily visit all of the island - we got to see a lot more than we would have done had we been in one of the main towns. (May 2009)
The ideal location to get-away-from-it-all, if that's what's required - yet not too far from Gaios or Loggos when the need arises. (May 2009)
The location gave us easy access to everywhere. It was quiet and peaceful and very private among the olive trees. (September 2008)
In a rural, quiet and not overlooked spot. (August 2008)
We loved the total absence of noise. No traffic to keep us awake; the only sounds at night being the pleasant hooting of owls. But despite the relative isolation, we liked that we could walk to the local shops and drive into any of the main towns within a matter of minutes. (July 2008)
Could be a bit quiet if young adults stayed in this locality (May 2007)

Hints, Tips and Local Information

Make sure you are careful not to lock the keys in the house, it is very easily done! (September 2010)
It was perfect in every way (June 2010)
Car hire is probably essential. Could you please add a weather forecast? [note - yes, we are working on adding that to our "about the islands" page, thank you for the suggestion] (May 2010)
A car is a must, as is a torch. (May 2009)
I have two bits of advice: hire a car... and stay a bit longer. (August 2008)
I was impressed by the totally flawless way this holiday went off - from the moment I first made the booking on the web through to when we boarded the plane to come home. No complaints whatsoever. (July 2008)
We will go again and use your company and also recommend your services (May 2007)
