Entering the main floor is a spacious sitting room and open plan kitchen. This light and airy space is decorated in soft blues and browns with a comfortable sofa in the sitting room. The dining table sits to one side near the kitchen for easy serving of holiday meals. The galley style kitchen is completely new and has a full sized oven/cooker. From the sitting room through a small hallway you find the master bedroom. This spacious room is furnished with a four poster double bed and beautiful furnishings. The accents here are in turquoise. An en-suite w/c includes a corner bathtub and is decorated with an elegant style. A front terrace is sectioned off for privacy from the main living area and the views are far and wide of blue Aegean Sea, and the beautiful whitewashed village of Skopelos.
Heading up the main stairway – another double bedroom and one two bedroom, both with en-suite w/c shower rooms. The double bedroom is again elegantly furnished and has high open wood beamed ceilings. A steep stairway leads to an office/sleeping gallery which looks down on the bedroom and is furnished with a writing desk and a day bed which can easily be used for extra sleeping space (small children not recommended due to the steep ladder-type stairway). The room has an en-suite w/c shower room decorated in modern, tasteful soft browns/beiges followed through from the bedroom. There are two balconies from this bedroom reached via double French doors -one with a side sea view and the other fully facing toward the stunning views of blue sea and the picturesque semi-circular harbour below.
The second bedroom on this floor is a spacious room with two single beds and the same open wood beamed roof. There is also an open gallery with sleeping space for another person. This room has its own en-suite w/c shower room. Again there are two separate and private balconies in this bedroom reached via double French doors, with one facing directly toward the gorgeous views. Another added convenience along with this bedroom is that it has its own entrance with an exterior staircase leading to the parking area.
Situated in the hills, less than 2 km southeast of the town is the newly renovated Villa Ourania. The attractive, traditional style building has white-washed walls, pretty blue shutters and red tiled roofs. A built-in BBQ is located on the top level of the property outside the villa. The sloping grounds have been attractively landscaped and the private swimming pool is situated on a level below the villa. This attractive pool area is the perfect spot, set amongst olive and fruit trees, to spend long days lazing in the warm Greek sun.
Villa Ourania is situated in a peaceful position amidst gloriously un-spoilt countryside with splendid views over the rolling hills covered with olive trees and fruit orchards. The location in the hills makes for a perfectly quiet get-away, but has all the amenities of Skopelos Town within easy reach just a few minutes’ drive away. The most picturesque town in the Sporades, Skopelos is has plenty of shops full of colourful buys, restaurants and typical tavernas. The nearest beaches at Stafilos and Velanio are only 4 km away and offer beautiful shingle beaches and clear azure seas. Keen walkers will find plenty of suitable terrain on their doorstep, with Skopelos Town centre being approximately 15 minutes away by foot (going downhill – longer back up!)
The fact that there is no airport on Skopelos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Skopelos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes approx. 1 hour to reach Skopelos.
You will be met at Skiathos Airport where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil or ferry. Another representative awaits your arrival on Skopelos.
Skopelos can also be reached by ferry from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland.
