Pyrgos is a unique villa, set on a rocky outcrop on the same stretch of coast as Skopelos with breathtaking views for miles along the coast and sea views to Alonissos. The villa has been designed with attractive castle features. The pool is situated at the edge of the property facing the sea giving outstanding views.
Both owners are artists and their creative works are found about the property. Near the entrance gate is a tall piece made from iron and below the house is a brick built pyramid. The property offers many chances for al-fresco dining in this lovely spot, ideal for nature lovers who want to simply relax.
The main door opens into the open-plan lower floor with striking black and white checked floor tiles and a mural of winged cherubs among the clouds. The room comprises of the spacious dining, living, kitchen and shower area. There is a large dining table, built-in sofa seating under the windows and several oil lamps and candelabras.
The inside of the villa is stunning, each sea-facing side boasting a tall window with a stained glass arch. At the front is the stairway leading to the upper gallery, which is made from beams of wood and has two sleeping areas one with a double bed and one with two single beds with a sliding door for privacy.
In a separate stone building is the second twin room, comfortably furnished and with en-suite w/c shower room. A back door leads out to a pleasant outdoor dining area with barbeque, sink and dining table. There is also a spacious roof terrace, reached by stone steps on the side of the house.
This house is a wonderful spot for couples looking for a romantic escape with an added touch of fantasy and fun.
Pyrgos House is an approximate 20 minute drive from Skopelos town, with the last 200 metres on a rough and stony dirt track that winds to the house. The hillsides are covered with olive groves and herds of goats and the views are striking down to the nearby beach of Glysteri with its turquoise blue waters. This beach is about a 10-minute drive from the house and has a taverna at the waters' edge, which is open from mid-May to mid-September. Pyrgos house is also ideal for walkers as there are numerous small roads and trails in the surrounding hillsides. The walk to Glysteri beach takes approximately 20 minutes and about 45 minutes to town.
The fact that there is no airport on Skopelos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Skopelos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes approx. 1 hour to reach Skopelos.
You will be met at Skiathos Airport where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil or ferry. Another representative awaits your arrival on Skopelos.
Skopelos can also be reached by ferry from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland.
