Skopelos Town House is located in the oldest part of Skopelos close to the Kastro (castle) that is the main feature of this beautiful whitewashed island capital. The position is car free and the only sound around will be the old women chatting away, a few donkeys braying and birdsong!
It a convenient choice for your holiday as everything is close by so a hire car is not required (you can use the regular bus service to get to the beach during the day). There is a small shop close by that has fresh bread every morning
The house is very traditional in style and arranged over 3 floors. On the ground floor there is a well equipped farmhouse style kitchen with a courtyard outside which is perfect for al fresco; the kitchen is well equipped and there is also a barbecue. The bathroom with shower is also on the ground floor.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor one is a double (on the cosy side) whilst the other is a twin..
On the second floor is the most beautiful room in the house which is a lounge come master bedroom, it also has two further beds suitable for children if required. This room has a small sun terrace leading of it with a sunbed and picturesque views over the old town.
This is a beautifully restored house featuring beamed ceilings, wooden floors and the traditional Pelion stone finishing in the kitchen and bathroom. Combine this with the fact that Skopelos Town is renowned as one of the most beautiful island capitals, and you have to agree it is a great choice for a group of friends or a family holiday.
With the maze of winding and picturesque streets of the old town at your feet, there are plenty of opportunities to explore. One of the oldest churches, which dates from 1600, Saint Georgios, is situated just around the corner from the house as is the Venetian fortress with its base stones dating from the 4th century B.C. A walled stairway with dramatic views down the sheer cliffs to the sea leads either up to the fortress or down to the harbour and is also found near to the house.
Within close proximity of the house is an open-air cafe, open from May to Mid- September, with stunning views out to sea and the neighbouring island of Alonissos. A local supermarket is found within a five-minute walk and the waterfront and its shops, restaurants and cafes are a short 7-minute walk down the steep streets of the town. The small beach of Glyfoneri, at the bay of Agios Konstantinos can be reached in approximately twenty minutes walk from the house. There is a selection of local tavernas along the road down to the beach with wonderful views to the bay and beyond.
The fact that there is no airport on Skopelos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Skopelos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes approx. 1 hour to reach Skopelos.
You will be met at Skiathos Airport where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil or ferry. Another representative awaits your arrival on Skopelos.
Skopelos can also be reached by ferry from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland.
