The simple yet charming cottage is centred within a terrace shaded by a huge acorn tree and makes a delightful retreat.
The spacious patio by the cottage has a table and chairs for al fresco dining and is decorated with traditional farm tools that were found and restored from the days when this cottage was a small, working smallholding.
From the patio a short path leads to the private swimming pool and terraces. Loungers are provided for sun bathing and there are corners of dappled shade under trees that border the terraces. The grounds include an original stone-built corn mill, while steps lead from the terrace to the beautiful small chapel of Panagitsa.
The sense of timelessness extends throughout the cottage from the entrance into the dining room with its low beamed ceilings and dining table. There is a bedroom off this room with two single beds and a good-sized w/c shower room. A doorway at the opposite end of the dining room leads to the fully-equipped kitchen. Continuing around the cottage, an open doorway leads to a spacious living room, which has a large fireplace, sitting area and glass doors openning on to the terrace.
The master bedroom is reached by an outside stairway and is an original country-style bedroom. The decor is simple and comfortable with a huge bed running along one entire wall of the room! The addition of a single bed is perfect for a younger child to sleep in with parents. A shower room with WC is situated on the same landing.
Ambelonas cottage is great for couples wanting a holiday in the Greek countryside with good privacy and a private pool. Families too will enjoy the peace and nature with plenty of space to explore, whilst being within reach of many of the islands best beaches and restaurants.
Ambelonas Cottage is set in the countryside about 1 km off the main road that runs the length of the island. A ten-minute drive brings you to some of the islands best beaches in the area around Panormos. Mountains covered in pine forests, contrasting with the bright blue sea surround these lovely, white shingle beaches. At Panormos Beach the waterfront is lined with typical tavernas specialising in fresh local seafood and the mini-market carries most of your essentials. Alternatively, Skopelos town is approximately 20 minutes by car and here you will find a full array of shops, restaurants and cafes. Ambelonas Cottage is in a wonderful area for walking and has numerous paths and dirt tracks in the surrounding hillside to suit everyone.
The fact that there is no airport on Skopelos can only enhance your holiday as it means that none of the big package holiday companies go there.
To get to Skopelos you fly to Skiathos from either Birmingham, East Midlands, Gatwick, Manchester or Newcastle with most flights departing on Fridays. From Skiathos you take the Flying Dolphin which takes approx. 1 hour to reach Skopelos.
You will be met at Skiathos Airport where a taxi will be waiting to take you to the port for the next available hydrofoil or ferry. Another representative awaits your arrival on Skopelos.
Skopelos can also be reached by ferry from Agios Konstantinos on the mainland.
