In the evenings, there is a choice of traditional tavernas for which the Vasilikos area of Zante is renowned.
At these villas there is a large main pool as well as a child's pool and indoor/outdoor play areas. The three-bedroom apartments are air-conditioned and offer accommodation for up to eight guests, making them ideal for large groups or families with children. Stone walls and generous proportions ensure Yiannas Villas stay cool and airy while their design highlights the high wood-beamed ceilings and open fireplaces. Each villa consists of two apartments which are furnished to a very high standard.
A well-equipped kitchen includes a full cooker, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The living areas include a dining table and chairs and satellite TV. There are three bedrooms: two are doubles and one is a twin (can be used as a double), each is furnished with bedside tables and a large wardrobe. The main bathroom has a bath, shower, washbasin, W.C. and hairdryer, the second includes a shower and WC. Yiannas Villas offer a shared laundry with washing machine, irons and ironing boards.

In addition to having some of the most beautiful and natural countryside on the island, the Vassilikos peninsula has several fine sandy beaches that are excellent for kids and beach bums. The area has not been subjected to the ravages of mass tourism and is a great place to go to if you enjoy a quieter holiday in beautiful natural surroundings.
There are plenty tavernas and mini-markets conveniently dotted along roads and you will also come across the occasional beach taverna when walking along the soft golden sands of Plaka or the lovely endless Ionian beach which is backed by sand dunes and is completely natural.
Of course there is still plenty to do if you want to seek it out, in St Nicholas you will find the islands watersports centre with a full range of activities, and Argassi will provide a comprehensive range of shops, restaurants and nightlife for those looking for a little more excitement.
Hot summers and warm evenings are assured on this southernmost Ionian Island. Visitors will find established resorts with plenty of amenities and activities to keep the children busy.

The majority of Zante flights depart on Sundays and Thursdays. There are no flights from the UK available on Saturdays, when direct flight instead run from Cork and Dublin. Daily flights to Zante are available from Athens Airport.

Zante is known as the most important nesting ground for the endangered species of loggerhead sea-turtles, the Caretta-Caretta, and a national marine park had been created to protect and preserve these creatures. During the summer months, holidaymakers can visit Kalamaki or Laganags and take a glass-bottomed boat trip to view the turtles in their natural habitat and even swim with them.
