Agios Nikitas

Typical view of Agios Nikitas This beautiful, picture-postcard village is full of quaint wooden whitewashed cottages, lining the lanes that tumble down the hillside to the beach. A designated conservation area, Agios Nikitas retains its traditional Lefkadian feel and, being traffic-free, has an unhurried and unspoilt atmosphere.

In addition to its own small stretch of sand, the village lies within striking distance of several excellent beaches. To the north is Pefkoulia Beach - easily reached along the road to Lefkada Town. Whilst to the south is Milos Beach, named after the ruined mill on the headland that overlooks it. This splendid bay has no road access but is only a five minute trip by taxi boat from the village beach - and well worth the journey. Like all the beaches on the West Coast, Milos Beach shelves rather steeply into the sea and is therefore not recommended for very small children.

There is a wide range of shops within the village and numerous good restaurants, cafes and tavernas to choose from. There are also a number of bars catering for every taste - from lively to laid back. Agios Nikitas is essentially a family resort however, and so has no loud nightclubs to disturb the equilibrium.
