An alluring oasis in a fabulous location, Gheni is ideally placed to offer its visitors a little of everything. It is a great place to use as a base for exploring the beautiful south of Lefkas - and yet has plenty to offer if you decide to just stay put. Indeed, those wishing to combine peace with some activity, such as scuba diving, will find it an idyllic spot.
This lush green peninsular also lies just across the bay from the lively resort of Nidri, whose restaurants, bars and tavernas are only 4km away by road (or, even better, a few minutes across the water by boat). Yet, despite its proximity, Gheni is totally different in character - a quiet, rural retreat with half a dozen excellent tavernas and a wonderful laid back atmosphere.
It is well worth hiring a boat whilst you're here to explore the numerous, virtually deserted beaches nearby or to make the short journey to the tiny islands of Madouri or Skopios (the latter being owned by the Onassis family). But, however you decide to spend your time, a holiday in Gheni will most definitely live up to all your expectations.
